In search of Chocolate...
As a self-confessed chocoholic, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven when I was set the task of finding London's finest chocolate shops - and now there really is no hope of wearing a bikini this summer!
Charbonnel et Walker: I started my journey in her Majesty the Queen's favourite chocolate shop, Charbonnel et Walker. Located in the Royal Arcade on Old Bond Street this historic shop, which dates back to 1875, produces some of the most exquisite chocolate imaginable. The rose and violent creams were out of this world, but I couldn't decide if I was a rose or violet girl so I feel it's only right I go back and try both again! Rococo Chocolate: Walking through the doors of Rococo Chocolate on the Kings Road, I found myself in chocolate heaven. The shelves were stacked with exquisite (and affordable) delights, including pink champagne truffles, saffron and ginger fudge and chocolate bars flavoured with chilli pepper, cardamom and earl grey tea. The only problem was deciding what to try first.... maybe a Nipple of Venus (a white chocolate coffee truffle with a coffee bean on top)? Details: 321 Kings Road; www.rococochocolates.com
The Chocolate Society: I then stopped at The Chocolate Society café and watched the world go by with a mug of hot chocolate (containing 40g of pure chocolate) and a mouth-watering chocolate brownie, before departing with a bag packed with bonbons, truffles and hokey pokey - Christmas presents honest! Pierre Marcolini: My final destination was Pierre Marcolini's boutique in Kensington, for a chocolate appreciation and tasting session. The evening, devised by the international chocolatier himself, comprised two hours of tasting luxurious chocolate from around the world alongside my other great love, champagne! It was an evening of pure indulgence, and by the end of the night, feeling somewhat sated, I left with a box of Palet Fins (thin slices of blended cocoa beans with liquid centres of caramel and honey) in my handbag. I just couldn't resist. Details: 6 Lancer Square; www.pierremarcolini.co.uk
